I’m not a car person, but I couldn’t help but notice the vast number of Volvos in the greater Charlottesville area. What’s the deal? I asked in my head, Seinfeld-style. They’re everywhere; in parking lots, driveways, on the road; new, old, tomato-red, black, green, white, gray, wagons and sedans.
Of course, now, I must have a Volvo.

I believe what you mean is:
Of course, now, I must have a Volvo.
I come from a family that will only buy cars that Edgecomb’s will sell and maintain. Best damned dealership around.
My Volvo turns 20 this year and required just $100 worth of maintenance in 2005. Mostly oil changes. I give all the credit for its longevity to BR and his crew over at C-Ville Imports, who’ve been caring for it since he opened his shop a decade ago after leaving Edgecombs. Not only do they do proper work, but they’re honest and happy to explain things to you. If you keep cars a long time, finding a mechanic like this is priceless.
If only I could get a new 240, I would in a heartbeat — alas, since Ford bought the company, a Volvo just ain’t what it used to be.

Heck yeah — the guy does good work.
