From Toasted Ravs and Ted Drewes to . . . Ham
In St. Louis, we like our food. With Italian restaurants galore we have wonderful pasta, a unique cheese (Provel, a combo of cheddar, swiss and provolone) thin-crust pizza and toasted ravioli. For sweets we have the Ted Drewe’s concrete, a frozen custard sweetened with honey or gooey butter cake, both St. Louis originals.
In Virginia, we have ham. Please tell me there’s more.

Peanuts, cant forget the peanuts. Also we have yummy gelato at Splendora (downtown) and Gearharts(sp?) chocolate is homegrown in Charlottesville. Riverside really has the best burgers in town. Charlottesville has great cheap eats too.
There are lots of great restaurants in Charlottesville even Italian/pizza places. Have fun searching them out.
I am sure there is more (and the ham is delicious).
We also have tobacco, not so much anymore but you know.

We weren’t expecting the Hill, mind you, but we wanted a taste of home. Imagine our elation, upon inspection of the menu, when we saw listed, “toasted ravioli.” We welled up as we ordered. [...]
