We were at Nags Head, on the third day of a vacation. I was sitting outside on a surprisingly cool morning, finishing a cup of coffee, when the phone rang.

I remember my mother-in-law telling me what was happening - it had just hit the mainstream media - and all I clearly remember is how the bottom of my cup looked with just a little bit of coffee left in it.

We then went in and watched the news. The rest of the week, fighters from Langely would occasionally streak by.

I'm glad airlines are giving their customers that courtesy email.

I don't really have a 9/11 story. It happened shortly after I had banned TV from our house. We are probably the only family in the US that has never seen any video coverage of the attack. We did keep the radio on NPR constantly for days.
