I heart Target for a whole new reason
Right now, at this very moment, the boy is enduring his first job interview . . . at my very favorite store.
Let’s hope they’re smart enough to see how great he is and buck up for $7-8 an hour (riiight).
My first awful job was at McDonald’s for $3.35 an hour. How about you?
*Update: the boy made it through round two and, pending a drug test, will be a $7.50/hour cart jockey at Target starting Tuesday.

Sears, men’s clothing at Christmas. This is where I learned people will buy absolutely anything when they are desperate for a Christmas gift.
Think it might have been about $2.65/hr.

$1.00 /hr and all the ice tea or lemonade I could drink, bailing hay (1972-3)
then $1.45/hr detassling corn (1973)
then $1.80/hr washing dishes at Howard Johnson’s (1974)
made a whopping $2.25/hr as night cook by 1977 when I left for college…see why I stayed in college?

$3.35/hr at Potatoes Etc. Actually worked two days before I was fired. I hope The Boy has better luck! Maybe he can work in the table linens section and show customers how to fold napkins!
