Leaving (for) Las Vegas

This trip, it’s been pointed out to me, is SO weird. We’re going to a planned wedding in Vegas. Who does that? a friend wanted to know. Weirder still is that it’s our buddy Dave, one of the terminally single guys, who is getting hitched. And what about this? We’re taking a VACATION. I’m unplugging — no laptop for this trip. Better still, it’s just us. No kids. Whoa. Vegas, Baby!

I’ll fill you all in upon our return, hopefully with a photo collection to match the stories. Wish me LUCK!

I work in the publicity department of a book publisher and would love to chat with you about participating in a blog tour for the recently released parenting book: For Parents Only. Drop me an e-mail at ejohnson@randomhouse.com if you’re interested. Thanks!

I think you should just move into the airport - for as often as you’re there!

Wait, let me understand this. You’re going to Vegas - for fun - without the kids - but with your hubby - and with no laptop? Good heavens, Mj, what will you do with your time? :-P

My wife and I had a “planned wedding” in Las Vegas. We spent the week doing wonderful outdoors things - Red Rocks, Mt. Charleston, the Mojave - and spent an hour visiting the two city offices required to be married. It was the best decision we could have made - on the one hand, no wedding costs. On the other hand, better pictures and memories than any “traditional” wedding could have provided. No stress, no fuss, and we’re just as hitched as anyone else is. I will encourage my children to do the same.
