My husband and I have never been together without kids on Halloween — until this year. With the boy off to college and the girl with plans of her own (overnight Halloween party at a friend’s house) we found ourselves kidless. It was a momentous occasion.
The girl was dressed as a Greek Goddess but I used the occasion as an excuse to tart her up with eye makeup.
She looks a little too happy to be getting away from us for the night, doesn’t she?
We wanted to take full advantage of the kidless situation, so we rounded up two also kidless couples and went out to dinner at Si Tapas.
Si, in the former Star Hill location, is pretty good as tapas goes. There were several menu selections we liked, including the pork empanadas, the fondue, the chicken kebabs and the scallops. We even enjoyed dessert (pumpkin cheesecake, apple spice cake and rice pudding).
I’m thinking this may be a new Halloween tradition for us. After 19 years of trick or treating in all kinds of weather, I’m happy for a change.

Wow, that is a major event indeed. I can’t even imagine a childless Halloween.
The Girl looks amazing and the choice of costume is perfect for her!
Wow, she looks so much older! Sounds like you had a fun night. =)
Awh, how pretty!! Sounds like a wonderful tradition. Here’s my favorite Halloween tradition: fix a huge pot of chili or another crockpot friendly meal, and sit by a bonfire handing out candy, eating chili, and drinking in life and the lovely bite of fall with the neighbors and a few beers.
Hi Marijean,
I really enjoy your blog. I watched an author named Christopher Flett on the Today Show, he wrote a book called “What Men Don’t Tell Women About Business” and it shares secrets for women working in business. I thought you might enjoy hearing about him. There could be some great content in their for future posts.
Keep up the great work.
Sincerely,
Bihter
It’s about time you two went out on a date! The girl’s looking awfully grown up btw.
Wow! She looks beautiful and grown up!! Hope she had fun and you both did too!! Miss you!
Hi Marijean,
I’ve been doing some additional research on the author, Chris Flett, that I talked about on my last comment. His company is “GhostCEO” (www.GhostCEO.com) and his book is a bestseller. I found it on Amazon here. Anyway, he was in the NY Times last Sunday under the “Career Couch” and he makes reference to women’s blogs like yours so I thought you might like to connect. I’d like to see you interview him and see what he’s all about. I saw on another blog he was a guest blogger. His email is: chris@ghostceo.com
Best wishes,
Bihter.
