Born on a Friday the 13th

Check out that 1970s couch!

One of the fun facts I’ve always enjoyed sharing about myself is this: I was born on a Friday the 13th (in November, today is not my birthday).

My mom had a scheduled C-section a few weeks before I was due and her doctor asked her if having the baby on a Friday the 13th was OK. She said that was fine; that she wasn’t superstitious. This is hilarious to me because if you know her, you know that my mom, she of the “bury a statue of St. Joseph in your yard to sell your house” advice, is TOTALLY superstitious.
So since I was a little girl, as seen in this photo, pictured with my Grandma Heroux at about age four (look at that saucy little face!), I have considered the occasion of a Friday the 13th to be special, and one of celebration. So HAPPY Friday; may good things come your way.

    I’m not very superstitious either, but I tell you that if something weirdo goes down on a Friday the 13th or Full Moon, I’m the first to blame either of those. Misplaced blame is my game (;

  2. Well, TODAY might not be your birthday…but there are three “Friday the 13ths” this year. And your birthday is one of them!

    Happy Friday the 13th. Enjoy your valentine’s day weekend. By the way, how did you get your blog categorized under parenting blogs on CVille blogs…they have mine under Misc. (Gah!)

    I was having a scheduled C-section with Son #2. When you’re 8 1/2 months pregnant and the doctor gives you a date, you just think “thank goodness this will all be over soon!”

    So I got a date (April 1st), came home, and excitedly called Hubby to tell him. I didn’t realize he was superstitious, but he did NOT want it to happen on April Fool’s Day…we changed it to April 2nd.

    Friday the 13th is a special day for my husband and I, too. Our first date was on a Friday the 13th (in December). I always tell people…I should have known what was in store! This year it was sort of nice that it was with Valentine’s Day.
