Electric Avenue

Saturday night I got a voicemail from my best friend. At first I thought she’d butt dialed, or purse dialed, or one of her kids had gotten ahold of her cell phone because all I could hear was a radio. Then I heard the song that was playing, Electric Avenue by Eddy Grant.

My friend came on the phone after a verse or so of the song and said, “Listening to this. Thought of you. Love ya. Bye.”

I grinned for the next hour or so. Of course it’s an inside joke of sorts, but there are songs that make us think of certain people, and for my friend, this is the one that makes her think of me.

I hope, as silly as it is, that this makes you smile today.

I love this! Songs that make me think of my best friend are all off the “Party of Five” cd. We listened to that cd until it was totally scratched up and unplayable. It went on every road trip all the way through highschool with us. Now, when one of the random songs come on from that cd we always call each other and sing really loud! It definitely still makes me smile!

  2. Now I’m smiling too. I remember this video so well — probably because I spent far too much time watching MTV in high school.

I have memories associated with this song too! Driving around St. Louis with friends in high school. Many, many songs make me think of other people, but I have no idea what songs make them think of me!
