Family Photo Day is Hair. I mean Here.

This afternoon we will be striking unnatural poses for our awkward family photo. There may be a last minute battle, who knows? The girl (as I think YOU all knew she would) is suffering from regret over her hissy fit over the PINE shirt and her reluctance to wear the requested khaki pants with it. She and Grandma went to the store and bought some khaki pants this morning and by 3pm we’re all to be decked out, brushed and spiffied up.

What I really came here to tell you though is that I was at a party last weekend with about 20 fabulous women including one in particular who had the most gorgeous  shampoo commercial hair. She shared her hair product secret, and if you leave a comment, I will tell YOU the secret. I bought the recommended hair products and tried them out this morning, just for the all-important family photo hair and it’s the best — she was totally right.

So leave a comment, telling me either about your hair challenges OR your awkward family photo. I’ll be waiting with the secret.

    OK — MJ — what’s the trick?

The holiday card photo is always a battle for us too (and of course AFTER I had the cards printed Matt says “So why did you use that shot?”) Death to Matt.

  2. Kim K says:

Well we already did the family photo so I’m late to the party for that, but I need to know this amazing hair secret!! Hope you guys have a fabulous trip!

  3. Julie says:

Hair issues are half the reason I won’t do a family picture! Our Christmas cards are always just the kids. =)

I hope this secret isn’t something like soaking your head in mayonnaise or something! =)

  4. For me it’s fine, limp hair that has absolutely no body whatsoever.

  5. KMay says:

For me it’s the battle of the frizz. The frizz wins a lot. I can’t say many of our photos have been awkward, but we really have to find a better place to take than in front of bright snowy windows…

Must have secret! And are you planning on using said secret on TV nights?

  6. Cathy W. says:

My hair woes date back to about 1982, when the style amongst the 6th-grade set was stick straight hair, parted in the middle, the longer and blonder the better. Well, my uber-thick, unruly (and brown) curls just wouldn’t cooperate.

Things are better now, especially with the high-tech straightening irons out there, but I must know the secret!

I’m interested in this secret. I think you are very brave to try a new product the day of an event. I’m always too scared. At least I know what battle I face with the usual stuff. :)

I love that my hair is naturally curly enough to curl, but to also straighten nicely. The problem is that it has zero body and is flat. I do use a root lifter, but if I put too much it looks greasy.

    hair…curly curly curly…thick thick thick
the family pic challenge is getting the family together!

  9. Sara says:

Is it a bump-it? Oh wait you already discussed that here.

My problem is a boyfriend who wants my hair blonde and me who won’t bleach it anymore. Been using sun-in as a compromise…

Is it baby shampoo? I have to use that after cochlear implants surgeries and it’s not half bad.

You know I’m interested in the hair products – although I’m still super excited over my own new hair products. As for my comment, I think you know that I would be forcefully opposed to the Pine Green and Khakis. There is a good reason that I don’t own khakis. I do feel you did the right thing by letting the girl know that she can not challenge you like that. Unfortunately, I also feel that she had a valid point. Notice you don’t find any Pine Green shirts with sequins. :)
Enjoy your family! It’s been a fun read!

  11. me: don’t got enough, at least in the right places!!
girl #1: Pantene commercial hair, straight and shiny, but would like to have curls sometimes
girl #2 hair curly and unruly, but would like to have it straight

You better tell me or I will tell your Mom!!!!!
    Merry Christmas to you all.
    Love ya

My sis and her husband were in for Christmas, and since the last fam photo, in-laws have joined our family and a new baby is here…so i agreed to what I hate most…pics. Appts were made, outfits chosen (we had decided on jeans and a black or white top), and I had waited til the last minute to have my hair colored so that no white roots would be on evidence. Then, the day before, my daughter started vomiting…every half hour. Then, in the wee hours of the morning of, I received a call from sis, who was now vomiting also…fam pics have been postponed to a later, less puky time in our future!

  14. CJ says:

ok…got me..I am so curious about the hair products..Is it Morroccan Oil? We call it hair crack…Love it!!!

  15. mary says:
