NWOK in Charlottesville

Blogging parents know that NWOK can only mean one thing: a night without kids! That’s what we’re looking at tonight, as the girl enjoys a sleepover at camp.

Ideas? Where shall we go for dinner and entertainment? Maybe we’ll just stay up all night talking, drinking coffee and listening to Steely Dan albums (remember when we used to call them that?). Maybe we’ll go taste a bottle of wine or two. Perhaps we could go for a stroll on the DTM and stop somewhere for a bit to eat. Maybe it’s time to get out of town and explore Orange, Crozet or Waynesboro.

Your thoughts are welcome. Save us from a night of laundry and bad television.

We are going out (not NWOK) in a few weeks, I think we are going to try Bonefish Grill (I know its a chain bla bla bla; but I want to try it). Has the Melting Pot opened? On our last night out we went to the place next to the Post Office downtown, Bashirs, it was pretty tasty and unique.
Continental Divide on W. Main Street is great if you can get in (Thursday might be a good night, maybe not) and Starr Hill is closeby to get Jomo afterwards.
“Citizen Kane” is playing at the Paramount tonight (7:00).
“An Inconvenient Truth” is playing at Vinegar Hill if you want serious stuff OR how about “You, Me and Dupree” (speaking of Steely Dan)?
I am eager for a night out if you cant tell.

I’m dying to eat at Bang! (on corner of South St & 2nd). We’ve been there for drinks a few times, and the menu looks tempting. Continental Divide is also excellent–I recommend the tuna tostada.

Re: your comment–we got those couches at Grand’s. If you’ve never been there, be prepared for their schtick which is to greet you at the front door with an (already opened) bottle of coke. They have these little vintage looking glass bottles. My kids just love it.

Explore Crozet? Don’t blink, you’ll miss it. But does this mean you haven’t had Crozet Pizza yet? Anoop would be none too happy hearing this. And you’re just not right if you haven’t eaten at the Continental Divide.
