Compensating

The girl stood before the open pantry, taking inventory of the items I’d brought home from the store.

“Oooh, I love those! You bought so many good snacks! Why did you buy all this stuff?”

Pause.

“Wait a minute.”

Pause.

“Are you going out of town?”

Busted.
