A few weeks ago, I asked you all to help me choose the new color of our house. You did, and the overwhelming favorite was Downing Stone. Weeks later, delayed by rain and travel schedules, the house is finished.
One of my favorite features is this last-minute bit of inspiration — I had our painter paint the porch ceiling a light sky blue. It turned out just lovely and I’m glad I went for it.
Thanks to everyone who voted or stopped by.
It looks fantastic! I love the blue ceiling on the porch…I’ve heard of doing it, but never had the guts to commit to it. I think it looks charming!
Jeannine – thank you so much — and thank you for rallying all the votes from the design bloggers. I felt much better about the color choices after the weigh-in from you and the rest of the community. As for the blue ceiling, I’ve been told it’s “a Southern thing” and I’ve always liked it on other homes. So, I just took a deep breath and went for it — I don’t think my husband has even noticed yet!
It looks terrific! Like the porch ceiling choice – actually a pale blue or blue-tinged white is supposed to make ceilings look higher. And the flag looks great against the new color!
It looks beautiful. All our ceilings are blue!
Wow! It looks great! So glad you decided to go with that color!
