Look, I’m not even going to pretend to be humble about this.
I just made the best pie I’ve ever made.
How do I know it’s good?
I’ve made this pie before and it’s beyond delicious. As proof, ingredients:
- Organic, local, yellow peaches (which are especially good this year)
- Heavy cream
- Confectioner’s sugar
- Vanilla
- Brown sugar
Mmmmmmm.
I’ve taken my time making it — all morning, in fact, and paid particular attention to the placement of each and every peach slice. It’s the most obsessive I’ve ever been in making a pie.
And it will be at least seven hours before we eat it.
Drool.

makes me wanna break this fast, STAT!
Look at all that pie goodness! Make sure you get your queenly wave down pat for when you review all your pie subject.
Oh, I forgot to ask – is that crust made with lard?
You are killing me here, Mj!
Thanks for asking, Rick. No, this is not a lard crust, it is what is called a Dutch crust meaning it is made with white vinegar and egg. It is an extremely flaky crust.
I always wondered what a dutch crust was, is it hard to make? Pie looks so good, I am not thinking I am going to have to make one!
Hi Gina, no, it’s not hard to make, but it does take some patience, as with any pie crust. My favorite pie crust recipe comes from The Pioneer Woman http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2007/12/p-p-p-pie_crust_and_its_p-p-p-perfect/
